اثر آلوئه ورا بر زخم سوختگی گیاه آلوئه ورا متعلق به خانواده لیلیاسه و در ظاهر شبیه کاکتوس است. تاکنون 75 ترکیب شناخته شده در آلوئه ورا یافت شده که شامل، 20 نوع ماده معدنی، 20 اسیدآمینه، 12 ویتامین و آب است. ژل را از قسمت داخلی برگ به دست میآورند و طی قرنها براي درمان موضعی زخمها و سوختگیها به کار برده اند.
آلوئه ورا، ترومبوکسان A2 و B2 و پروستاگلاندین را که موجب انقباض عروقی و تجمع پلاکتی میشوند، کاهش می دهد و به نظر می رسد پرفیوژن پوستی را افزایش و خطر ایسکمی در بافت را کاهش میدهد.
سالیسیلیک اسید موجود در آلوئه ورا با مهار تولید پروستاگلاندین به عنوان یک مسکن و ضد التهاب عمل میکند. لاکتات منیزیم موجود در آلوئه ورا با مهار هیستیدین دکربوکسیلاز که تبدیل هیستیدین به هیستامین را در ماست سل ها کنترل میکند به عنوان یک ضد خارش تأثیر دارد.<br>همچنین مشخص شده آلوئه ورا در برابر طیف وسیعی از باکتري ها از جمله پسودوموناس، اشرشیاکلی، سالمونلا تیفی، مایکوباکتریوم توبرکلوزیس، کلبسیاپنومونیه، استرپتوکوك پیوژن و استرپتوکوك آرئوس مؤثر بوده است.قرن هاست که اثر آلوئه ورا بر زخم سوختگی به عنوان یک داروي موضعی براي بیماري هاي گوناگون و ضایعات پوستی مصرف می شود . ژل این گیاه حاوي مواد ضد التهابی مانند اسید سالیسیلیک و مهار کننده هاي ترومبوکسان است که از انقباض عروقی ناشی از آن ها ممانعت به عمل آورده و شبیه به بروفن ولی با مکانیسم متفاوتی عمل می کند. <br>لاکتات منیزیم ژل از واکنش هیستامین که باعث خارش و تحریکات پوستی می شود، جلوگیري می کند. تمام این موارد نشان می دهد که این ژل خاصیت ضد التهابی داشته و سبب افزایش فعالیت سیستم ایمنی می شود و به علت تأثیر بر باکتري هاي گرم منفی و اثرات ضد ویروسی با اثر غیر مستقیم آنتی باکتریال باعث تسریع بهبودي می گردد.
